Economic Development Executive Director
Holmes County

Reports To: Economic Development Council of Holmes County  

FLSA Status:
Salary-exempt

Education Requirements: A four year bachelor degree in business administration, economics, planning or a related discipline is preferred.

Experience Requirements: Administration of community and/or economic development programs required.

Summary:
  The Economic Development Executive Director - Holmes County promotes economic growth, investment and development in Holmes County by encouraging industry and business retention, expansion and attraction. This individual is the liaison between Holmes County businesses and government agencies and programs assisting with technical expertise on government incentives and programs. The director provides assistance, support, and encouragement to industries and businesses through various application processes for financial, tax and workforce packaging assistance including federal, state, and local economic development programs and incentives. S/he works closely with the Economic Development Council to achieve job growth through expanding existing organizations and attracting new industry to the area. This individual develops, markets, and presents publications, audio-visual presentations, and promotional material that support the goals of the program. S/he may be called upon to assist with community development, programs, and/or activities. Additional requirements include regularly informing and communicating with businesses throughout the county and the Economic Development Council. 

S/he possesses proficiency and leadership skills in areas of organization management; community and economic development; governmental, legislative and political procedures; and community/economic research. The director works independently and makes sound, good decisions. S/he writes and administers grant applications related to economic development. This individual provides excellent written and verbal communication skills, broad knowledge of a variety of businesses and industries and displays strong, professional public relations and community contacts.  Essential are time management skills and a flexible schedule for travel throughout the county and beyond.

Executive Director

Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center


The Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center (MREIC) is a new nonprofit, innovative economic development agency located in Kirksville, Missouri, whose focus is the needs of rural communities and rural business enterprises across the state of Missouri.


The Executive Director shall be an experienced professional with at least 3 - 5 years of focused work in innovation centers, business enterprise development, and/or knowledge-intensive businesses and product development with a proven track record of success in an environment of limited supervision. Other required qualifications include significant grant writing and grant administration experience as well a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. Knowledge about existing state and federal programs and agencies related to innovation and technology transfer is preferred.
